Just Chillin'

A photograph of actor and singer Chill Wills with local model Zorica.  Famed Western actor Chill Wills was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1960 but, according to his IMDb profile, his shameless and embarrassing campaign for the award not only cost him the Oscar but exposed himself to a great deal of humiliation.  I find that hard to believe ...

Winnipeg's Illustrated Rock History - Part 4

Continuing with our ever-popular Winnipeg rock history theme, I present one of the many incarnations of the popular Ukrainian cover band, the D-Drifters.  L-R: Tony Roman, Mike Klym, Dave Roman.  I need help identifying the guys on the far right.  Fun fact: Fred Turner of BTO was once a member.

And Crow Cuss! L-R: Hermann Fruhm, Greg Leskiew, Larry Pink, Marc LaFrance, and Bill Wallace.  Here is a recipe for awesomeness: Add equal parts coats with shorts, colourful knee-high socks, and tubas.  Mix well with 3 mustaches, 2 exaggerated hand movements, and 1 bad pun.  Voila!

Floral fashion fiasco

Mary Beighton (wife of T. E. Beighton), Louise Isabel Willis (wife of Errick Willis), and Beryle Ciley (wife of C. D. Ciley), as shown left to right. The women are cutting a cake for the fiftieth anniversary of a Winnipeg municipal chapter of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire, and all are wearing I.O.D.E. pins. Little do they realize that a florist's shop has just thrown up all over their formal wear.

Anyone interested in seeing more fashion fiascos?  Believe me, there are lots.
